Stewart Till CBE
Stewart Till CBE was appointed as the Chairman of the UK Film Council on 1st August 2004, taking over from Sir Alan Parker CBE. He was previously, from 2000, the Vice-Chair.
From 2003 - 2006 he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UIP, the world's largest film distribution company, with offices in 35 countries, and was responsible for the international theatrical distribution of Paramount, Universal and Dreamworks' films.
Previously Till was President of London–based PolyGram Filmed Entertainment, acquired by Seagram's Universal in 1999. Till joined PFE at its inception in 1992 and played an integral part in building the company into the first fully integrated global producer and distributor of films in 60 years.
During his time with PFE, Till oversaw the international marketing and distribution of successful films such as Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bean and Sleepers. He was responsible for acquiring films such as Trainspotting, The Usual Suspects and Angela's Ashes.
Till is Deputy Chair of Skillset. He is also Vice-Chairman of Millwall Football Club. He is a trustee of the UK National Film and Television School Foundation and he co-chaired the Government's Film Policy Review Group with Film Minister, Tom Clarke CBE MP, advising then Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Chris Smith. He also co-chaired the Action Committee with Minister for Film, Janet Anderson MP.
Till was honoured with a CBE during the New Years Honours 2000.
