UK Film Council appoints new Production Executive in LA
Andy Weltman has been appointed Production Executive by the British Film Commissioner Colin Brown. Weltman who will be based in the UK Film Council US office will be responsible for building relationships with US filmmakers looking to film in the UK.
LONDON – 7 May 2008: Andy Weltman has been appointed Production Executive by the British Film Commissioner Colin Brown. Weltman who will be based in the UK Film Council US office will be responsible for building relationships with US filmmakers looking to film in the UK.
Announcing the appointment, Colin Brown, British Film Commissioner said: "I'm delighted that Andy has joined our team. Together with Claire Chapman our Executive Director in the US, Andy will look at maximising the opportunities for US filmmakers to make their films in the UK."
Andy has a strong track record in development and as an independent film producer. Most recently, he oversaw Saltire Film and Television's feature film division in LA and Glasgow and was instrumental in building relationships with financial and creative partners. Prior to that he developed and financed independent films for Horizon Films, a start-up company which he co-founded.
In addition, he has worked with some of the top filmmakers in the film industry, including Peter Weir, Wolfgang Petersen and Steven Spielberg on films including The Witches of Eastwick, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Dead Poets Society, Green Card, The Perfect Storm and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

Outside of Hollywood, there is no place that matches the UK in terms of quality of filmmaking, depth of crew and variety of locations.
