Audience testing and enhancement funding: guidelines and application form

Audience testing funding
Audience test screenings - sometimes referred to as NRG screenings -   may take place when a film is beyond 'director's cut' stage in post-production.  The film is customarily screened to a non-paying audience to judge their reaction to the film in order to consider whether changes should be made to enhance the film before picture lock. The audience is requested to fill in a questionnaire relating to the film and a selection of the audience may participate in focus groups to consider more specific questions about the film and to articulate their views in more detail. Such screenings are organised by specialists who focus on recruiting the right audience for the film in question.

Enhancement funding
Successful applicants for audience testing funding shall also be entitled, after completion of the audience testing, to apply for Premiere Fund enhancement funding unless the Premiere Fund consider that the film is more suitable for consideration for the New Cinema Fund completion funding in which case the project may be directed to that Fund.
